Meet the Honorable Enrique Bolin, former mayor of Benalmádena, Spain. In 1997, after a chance meeting with a Tibetan lama, and a subsequent trip to visit Tibetan settlements in Nepal, Mayor Bolin decided that what his town needed was a stupa. That's right: a Buddhist stupa.
Mayor Bolin put up the equivalent of USD $300,000. in public money to get the project started. I think we all understand enough about politics to appreciate what that must have entailed.

This is what it looked like when they were finished. Today I want to salute Mayor Bolin and all Spanish Buddhists. This is a remarkable achievement.

Enrique is my cousin, and I agree, the best man in Spain. He has always gone above and beyond to make Benalmadena a better place in the world.
The world is blessed by your cousin's presence.
