Kilung Monastery of East Tibet: Fly the Flag

About a thousand miles from Chengdu you can find Kilung Monastery. It was founded on the order of the incomparable Rigdzin Jigme Lingpa, by Jigme Ngotsar Gyatso: one of the "Four Jigmes," with the patronage of the King of Derge.

The Kilung Monastery is now under the stewardship of the Kilung Rinpoche, Jigme Tenzin Chodrak, the fifth incarnation of Jigme Ngotsar Gyatso. He has attracted a small Western following, chiefly in the State of Washington, and with their support is engaged in healing the Dzachuka region of East Tibet.

Together with his sponsors, Rinpoche has hit upon what I regard as
a very wholesome method of fundraising. For USD $300., they will erect a permanent, traditional flagpole at the monastery, with your name inscribed on the base, and then fly flags for you every year for three years. They also have various other services you may wish to investigate, and I heartily encourage you to do so.
