Naga Days, and Ways

In the Americas, naga offering days are oft-remarked and rarely observed. That is a pity, because the nagas here could sure use a whole lot of placating. We are now approaching the middle of the first month of the Tibetan year, which is time enough to get ready for the one and only useful naga day: Saturday, March 21, 2009. Call the milkman and get an extra bottle delivered (does anyone still do that?)

If you miss the 21st, not to worry. Next month is the naga's memorial month, and you'll have six days in which to make amends. The texts say nagas remember everything that happens during the month, so please try to remember them on April 2, 10 (Trungpa Rinpoche's Anniversary), 15, 20, 21, and 25 -- and at all costs avoid the 26th, 27th, and 28th.

For those of you who follow Rigpa's excellent calendar, please note that their naga days are a little different from the ones I follow.
