Still On "On Holiday" Contest: Updated

I'm still on holiday today, and in the "On Holiday Contest" department we are close but no cigar. So, O.K.... here is a hint:

The hand belongs to her legendary father. This photograph of her has rarely been seen outside of Tibet.

You know, this one is not as easy as it first seems... maybe we need to start looking in this direction...?

UPDATED: The ever-accurate Andrew West sends in notice of a useful enlargement from another source (scroll to the bottom, and enjoy what you see on the way there). Yet, this mystery is still not decisively solved...

UPDATED X2: I will date myself terribly when I do this.... O.K..... Tha shabkyu "u" is Thu... Ma gigu "i" is Mi and sa is mis... silent ba, Ta naro "o" is to and da is bTod...

sigh...

Are you sure this is how Evans-Wentz did it?

Emulating the jumping fish style (that was brilliant, Andrew), I'll go for the hook, jump right out of my depths, and say that the calligrapher was none other than the late illustrious Ven. Dudjom Rinpoche. Although she does look a little older these days, I'm thinking, this must be Dechen Yudron:

but then don't we all (look a little older, I mean).

Like Vinegar Joe, you are here "firstest with the mostest."

Yes, that is Dudjom Rinpoche's daughter, and I think I will have to send a prize to you, Tashi, and Andrew...

but, wait...

what about the fluent translation?

Right, the fluent translation. We'll be right back with you!
