Weekly Tibetan Astrology: October 11 - October 17, 2010

NOTE: A very powerful week, in a very powerful month, when great strides are possible, but interrupted when a sly, subtle, and very negative undercurrent rears its ugly head on the 12th. The auspicious 10th, on Sunday, celebrates the time when Guru Rinpoche took the form of Vajrakumara, so we can take a clue from that on how to deal with matters. All spiritual streetfighting aside, this is an auspicious week with a strong indication of material increase, the giving and receiving of gifts, happy get-togethers, and enjoyment of the season. One strong bit of very good news: the Dalai Lama is in the United States this week, and next.

October 11, 2010 - Chinese 5th, M-T-K 4th. Horse, Kham, Black 2. Good energy. You could receive gifts and enjoy the company of good friends today. Or, what is so much better, you could give gifts and be a good friend today.

October 12, 2010 - Chinese 6th, M-T-K 5th. Sheep, Gin, Blue 3. Extremely unfavorable energies, with the actual possibility of death in result of discord (thowa connected to fire-earth). It is as if there is a black curse upon this day. How apt, that today is a Sheep day, for there are wolves about, in sheep's clothing. Today, Vajrakilaya practice is optimal, so I am suggesting that the time has come to absorb the longevity of a troublesome embodiment of malevolence and anger, purify it, and liberate it into basic space. On a substantially brighter note, the Dalai Lama is scheduled to teach in San Jose today.

October 13, 2010 - Chinese 7th, M-T-K 6th. Monkey, Zin, Green 4. Very much like Monday. Highly favorable energies, with some surprises in store. The Dalai Lama is scheduled to give the Amitabha Permission Initiation at San Jose State University today.

October 14, 2010 - Chinese 8th, M-T-K 7th. Bird, Zon, Yellow 5. Don't argue with family today. Show particular patience to your significant others, and be specially kind to children. The Dalai Lama is scheduled for Stanford University today.

October 15, 2010 - Chinese 9th, M-T-K 8th. Dog, Li, White 6. Medicine Buddha Day and also Tara Day. Extremely favorable energies today. Wishes can come true. Today is the anniversary of the 16th Karmapa (1924 - 1981). Today is also the birthday of a fine young lotsawa -- Erick Sherab Zangpo -- and we wish him every success. The Dalai Lama is scheduled for Stanford University today.

October 16, 2010 - Chinese 10th, M-T-K 9th. Pig, Khon, Red 7. We have doubled days in Chinese practice. Today is zin phung. You might be a little worn out today, but good things can still happen.

October 17, 2010 - Chinese 10th, M-T-K 10th. Pig, Khon, Red 7. Guru Rinpoche Day. Today is baden. Mixed messages, so we'll go with the positive -- success is possible. The Dalai Lama is scheduled for Atlanta, Georgia today.

Naga observations for the ninth  month: In general, I want to say it is very bad to cut trees this month. Best days for offerings are lunar 12, 17, 27, and 29. Studiously avoid 6, 10, 13, 16, 20, 22, 24, 25, and 26.
