Heaven Has Eyes to See

Poor, maimed rabbits are showing up outside my door. I do not know where they came from or how they arrived here. I do not know why they came here, as distinct from going any other place. I do not know who hurt them. I do not know how many others have been hurt or killed in this manner.

As of today, eleven different injured rabbits are observed. All have single or multiple, small-caliber projectile wounds to the ears.

Those who did that have a looong road ahead... to learn empathy. They were just beginning to pick up their lessons, even if they don't know that yet.

Have you been hearing shots in the area?

Sometimes, but unrelated to this. This shooting here is being done at morning and afternoon, not at night, and like as not with a scope. I think they just found their way over here.

Why wonder that no full realisation by US dharma folks?rabbits and their EARS? HOW can a nerophiliac culture produce as realised being? Shame.

How terrible! Those poor animals. A heartfelt prayer and request to Green Tara to help keep the rabbits in the area safe from harm and fear. Om Tare Tuttare Ture Soha.

Thank you for caring for them and giving them refuge. :)

It makes you wonder whether the locals in the high desert are great shots or poor shots.

No laughing matter. Seeking satisfaction by maiming small animals is one of the early warning signs of a serial killer. Whoever did this shot from a prone position at an elevation lower than that of target. A .177 airgun at sufficient velocity could explain some of these wounds. Some others seem to be .22 There is typically a clean entrance wound in one ear, usually in the same place on all animals observed, and a larger exit wound in the other ear, which leads us to understand ammunition issues in a little better detail, and also tells us that the shooter is operating from the same place, to hit the rabbits when they raise their heads while eating. Nobody around here admits to hearing any shots, but taking out the personal issues, "maybe" there "might" have been some early morning shots heard on one occasion. Also of interest because rabbits are crepuscular: they will be out feeding in profusion at dawn and dusk.
