Marshimaro Usagi (2005 - 2012)

Marshimaro Usagi, 24 June 2005 - 8 June 2012

My best friend suddenly passed away at 14:40 hours Pacific Time today. I helped deliver him into this world: it was his mother's first pregnancy, and she had difficulties. So, from the very first moment, we had a special bond. I was holding him again, as he passed away, stroking his fur, while we listened to the Medicine Buddha mantra.

Strange as it may seem, Marshimaro was an inspiration to me. He would often sit with me while I wrote. He would sit with me while I practiced. He had the ability to choose fortune cards, and had an amazing personality. During practice, he always knew the times for bells, drums, etc., and he always sat respectfully still, looking at the altar.

We were very close, and I feel his death sharply. Such an awful illusion!

Editor, I am sorry to read about your loss.

It seems like Marshimaro came to you to get his Tibetan Buddhist preliminaries in this rabbit life. What a fortunate fellow he was.

I am sure that Marshimaro will come back as a well-prepared Tibetan Buddhist practitioner and ready to benefit all sentient beings in his coming human life.

p.s. He looked adorable, yet dignified in this picture.

Om Mani Padme Hum Hrih for Marshimaro, for a swift transition through the bardo. May he be be reborn in whatever pureland he desires! May he see the compassionate face of Guru Rinpoche directly to comfort and guide him.

We all return to repay the kindness of the guru ;)

Well done, kind sir. Well done.

I think our non-human animal friends show us that we are not the only enlightened and enlightenable beings on Earth. Every being is a lesson for every other being in the long cycle of Time. I hope that Marshimaro returns to continue teaching. Meanwhile, allow peace to hold your heart in a Marshimaro-like, fluffy white softness.
