I was quite concerned to learn that Kunga Thartse Rinpoche, 74, of the venerable Ewam Choden center in Kensington, California was hospitalized with a bleeding ulcer. As I understand the situation, this was brought about from use of the medications prescribed for his heart condition. Having been down that road myself, I understand how it feels.
Apparently, Rinpoche was released earlier today, and is resting at home while doctors decide what to do. He is not in any immediate danger, and expects to resume his normal schedule within a matter of a few weeks.
I hold Kunga Thartse Rinpoche in very highest possible regard. He is one of the most respected lamas in the world today, and since his arrival in the United States in 1972, one of our national treasures. Please, if you can spare a few moments, generate the Medicine Buddha and send a cloud of prayers to him.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I'm sure that I am not the only one grateful to Lama Kunga for teaching him to enjoy golf. He is the anti-hot-shot golfer, whose vow (it seems) is to always score higher than the person he's playing with. He made me feel like a pro, and to see the public course in Berkeley as a pure land.
ReplyDeleteMay the Medicine Buddha's blessings heal Lama Kunga Rinpoche swiftly.
