Note: We have offered what now amounts to extensive explanation that the Tiger Year will make itself felt well into 2011. Although from the Chinese astrological perspective we have now passed into the Year of the Iron Rabbit, in Tibetan astrological terms we are currently in the final month of the Iron Tiger. Sometimes, you throw out the books and ask yourself what feels right. Feels like Iron Tiger to me, and I imagine a substantial number of people in Dharamsala, Cairo, and other places would agree right about now.
Speaking plainly, February 2011 is an extremely difficult month and March 2011 is not a whole lot better. In some respects, March is even worse. Borrowing a page from my friends, the Western astrologers, Pluto-Jupiter square February 20th through March 1st indicates that religious institutions are going to take a beating, and there may be irreversible changes. This notion is certainly supported by Tibetan astrology, and we see it playing out in that incredible ugliness being perpetrated in Northern India.
So, to speak generally --
There is a very real possibility of violence, and sudden, devastating attacks. Extreme reversals of fortune are possible, both for individuals and institutions. To a certain extent, we will feel these effects beginning next week, rather than this week. However, for this week, coming events will certainly announce themselves.
Make no mistake: there are some extremely wicked people out and about, exploiting some extremely wicked energies. They do not wear name-tags that say, "Hi! I'm wicked!" Pay particular to signs from the earth element.
We can see sudden changes and tensions in international relations. We can see matters impacting refugees; indeed, it is possible we can see people fleeing violence and unrest. Slander, back-stabbing, and libel are having a field day. Covert operations are in full swing. Financial markets will be nothing less than volatile. Beginning this week, fortunes can be made and lost in minutes.
From now until March, you will witness the Iron Tiger at its most dangerous and devious. The effects will ripple all the way to the first of May. Practice equals happiness. No practice equals no happiness. Up to you.
In some ways, this week is a window of opportunity. If we set about creating the causes and conditions for peaceful transitions, then that is what we will experience. That is why I want to particularly emphasize practice directed toward the resolution of negativity. Gutor isn't until March 3rd, but in a strange way, this week -- all week long -- is calling for the measures we traditionally reserve for Gutor.
If you are a materialist, obsessed with the eight worldly dharmas, times like these can hurt. If otherwise, and you have managed to finally get past the the forest of triggers and buttons, then you have nothing to worry about.
