Daily Tibetan Astrology: January 16, 2010

Chinese 2nd day of 12th month, M-T-K  1st day of 12th month. Bird, Khen, White 8.  Today is baden, so do not raise prayer flags today. As is customary, we consider the naga days. The best days to make naga offerings are the 10th and 16th (lunar). The days to carefully avoid are today, the 8th, 13th, 15th, 18th, 20th, 21st, 22nd, 24th, 25th, 27th and 28th (all lunar).  There are a number of important anniversaries and ritual dates this month, not the least of which are Longchenpa on February 1st (solar), Tulku Urgyen Rinpoche on the 7th (solar), and of course, Gutor on Friday, February 12th. Saturday, February 13th will be the day to clean house. In Tibetan Buddhist terms, this is always an extremely busy month, as people ready themselves for Losar. All over the world, there will be numerous  teachings and empowerment opportunities. The Great Nyingma Monlam Chenmo commences today and runs through the 25th (solar). As noted elsewhere, we are closed in observance of that event. You can make important requests today without hesitation.
