Chinese 15th, M-T-K 15th. Dragon, Dwa, White 6. Full moon. Today is a zin phung day. Today is also Amitabha Buddha day. Above and beyond that, this is the anniversary of Trapa Ngonshe's discovery of the Four Treatises, and is thus superlatively significant to Tibetan doctors all over the world. Despite this, don't schedule surgery today. What should we do? Well, practice, consecrations, ordinations, work on buildings, or even get married! Wait... getting married is like having a root canal, and that's surgery, right?(*) Better think that one through very, very carefully.
However, don't try anything between midnight and 3:00 a.m. Don't travel today, no matter what anybody tells you. I also want to note, parenthetically, that apart from being Trapa Ngonshe's discovery day, today's full moon occurs in the 24th lunar mansion -- the one called "Hundred Physicians," so there is a definite "tone," if you will, what with all the news about pandemics and so forth. The Dalai Lama will be giving the Amitabha permission and Medicine Buddha initiations on the West Coast this month, and Dungse Rigdzin Dorje Rinpoche from Zangdokpalri will also be on the West Coast with the Healing Chod tour (so unhappy I will miss them both). That one-two punch should be enough to calm down the energies. Nevertheless, from an astrological perspective today sets the stage, so to speak, and to be on the safe side, I would really unload with the tsog offerings and so forth today.
While we're on the subject, what is it about the West Coast this year? Right now it is fire. I look ahead and see a lot of water -- a lot of water -- which of course always upsets the earth element. I also look at Mexico and clearly see there is a whole army of troublesome spirits running loose down in Baja -- on the level of it-takes-Padmasambhava-himself-to-chill-them-down -- (sigh) what next?
(*)Getting married and a root canal are the same because (a) you leave feeling numb, and (b) the pain sets in after. Too cynical for all you youngsters? I'm so sorry. Go ahead and get married... I am sure everything will work out just fine.
