If you look carefully at the bookshelf behind Senator Dianne Feinstein, you'll see copies of Exile From the Land of Snows, together with Jetsun Pema's Tibet:My Story, and Way of the White Clouds, by Lama Govinda.
Senator Feinstein, when Mayor of San Francisco, was the first American political figure to openly welcome His Holiness the Dalai Lama, on his first visit to the United States. Even the very liberal Jerry Brown, then Governor of California, was reluctant to make a public gesture (although in private, he loaned His Holiness his famous Plymouth).
Senator Feinstein has worked tirelessly for Tibetan causes for over 40 years, and I hope you will join me in saying "Thank You," to a true friend of Tibet.
