Healing Chod Tour 2009

One of the most intriguing Tibetan temples in the world must surely be the one constructed according to a dream by the late Terton Kunzang Dechen Lingpa Rinpoche, in a remote area of Arunachal Pradesh. His Zangdokpalri Temple has attracted the attentions of the finest artists from Bhutan, Nepal, and Tibet, and now, after several years, finally nears completion.

HEALING CHOD TOUR

One of the interesting aspects of this temple is that it has been financed almost entirely through small, individual donations arising from the Healing Chod tours conducted by Kunzang Dechen Lingpa's son, Dungse Rigdzin Dorje Rinpoche.

Dungse Rigdzin Dorje Rinpoche

I did not have the karma to meet Kunzang Dechen Lingpa, but I have enormous respect for him based upon the character of his works. His treasures are sublime: this really is the only way to describe them. They are in fact the very nectar-like essence of the Vajrayana. I hold them in such high regard that I have expended considerable effort to see my youngest daughter receives the associated empowerments, whenever they are offered. I find that these practices are particularly helpful to Westerners, and Dungse Rigdzin Dorje Rinpoche is a non-nonsense, old-style Nyingma lama who knows how to cut through to the essential point.

Now, the Healing Chod is an extremely effective method of overcoming disharmonies of mind and body. To participate, one need do little more than just be there for the ritual... it truly is that powerful. You just bring a pillow, a blanket, and a mat if you wish, then lie down and relax. Lama Lodru, of San Francisco, is known for his abilities with this ritual, as are one or two others. However, Dungse Rigdzin Dorje Rinpoche, together with the monks and nuns of Zangdokpalri who accompany him, take this to an extremely high degree of perfection by performing the terma version of the ritual, discovered by Kunzang Dechen Lingpa. You can meet hundreds of people who have participated over the past few years, and they will all tell you the same thing: this really helped.

TOUR BEGINS IN MARYLAND THIS YEAR

The first performances of the 2009 USA tour will be June 13 and 14, in Adelphi, Maryland. I know for a fact that there are many ill, disturbed, and confused people in Maryland who would benefit so greatly by exposure to this profound healing. I pray that they will make the effort to attend, as this will help them overcome so many obstacles.

The tour continues throughout the summer, with stops in New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and elsewhere in Maryland. In August, they jump to Mexico, then continue on to Washington, Oregon, Northern California, and Southern California (yes... we are now two states... always have been, actually). The complete tour schedule may be had by clicking here, and you can also read up on their various other projects.

  1. Thank you for plugging the Healing Chod tour. I was most fortunate to spend months with late Rinpoche, Lhodrak Terton Kunzang Dechen Lingpa, as a student and servant in various ways. As you say, Dungse Rigdzin Dorje is no-nonsense. When he teaches, the style and content is virtually indistinguishable from his father's. It's plain to see that Rigdzin Dorje Rinpoche is the definitive scion of Rinpoche's Body, Voice and Mind. Anyone who believes in the old (and mostly now invisible) Tertons and Nyingma teachers should seek solace and inspiration in Rigdzin Dorje's presence.

Moreover, I cannot emphasize enough how beneficial the Healing Chod is. Everytime I've slept through a Healing Chod I've had a dream where I saw one of the tortured entities, trapped in a Bardo-like state, on their way out of my life, and have awakened feeling healed and blessed on many levels. Others have had this and other sorts of experiences. So it's not merely "musical healing" as some might call it -- it is precisely what it purports to be. And by participating in the healings, one supports Rinpoche's vision of completing the Zangdokpalri Monastery in Arunachal Pradesh in India, which Rinpoche started after being commanded to do so by Guru RInpoche in the course of some incredibly detailed visions. Dungse Rigdzin Dorje is carrying that work on, as late Rinpoche's representative.

    See you there!
