Above are a symbolic offering flower and torma manufactured in Mainland China, which is a communist nation, well known for tainted baby formula, poisoned heart medicine, lead toys, and really bad dogfood. A lot of people buy these because they don't know the difference, and they are thus purchased by the thousands, all over the world.
Above is a torma made in Taiwan, which is a democratic nation, well known for its humanitarian character. These tormas are actually made by Buddhists. They cost a little more, but the extra money goes to support temples and monasteries. Thankfully, they are also purchased by the thousands, by discerning devotees in every corner of the Southern Continent.
Gentlemen (and ladies) this is serious. We've got to close the strategic torma gap!
Above is a torma made in the United States, which is the land of the free and home of the brave. It is bigger and faster than the Taiwanese tormas, and cannot be seen by the Red Chinese tormas. Every U.S. citizen is about to get money from the White House, so why don't we all band together and buy genuine, Made in the U.S.A. by Nyingma lamas type tormas?
I really don't like the way the author wrote this article. Things cannot be commented in black/white. Actually in mainland there are millions of Buddhists, including myself. I personally has a great Nyingma mentor. Although we are a little bit limited in religious gothering, we are really sincere Buddhists and could practice Buddhism as long as we wish. Please don't discriminates discriminate buddhists from different areas, and do not discriminate the goods from different areas. A citizen from USA should have a good understanding on human right and avoid commenting in such a impolite way.
ReplyDeleteI always feel badly when I give offense, but to understand the post, you have to understand the movie, "Dr. Strangelove," and take it in that context. It is meant humorously, not literally, but I have a very dark sense of humor. Very sorry.
ReplyDeleteThese are Lama Tharchin Rinpoche's tormas! (the last one)
ReplyDeleteFunny coincidence. I bought one just yesterday.
Necropost!
ReplyDeleteWe Buddhists take ourselves too seriously!
Nice tormas! I have one of Tharchin Rinpoche's ambu metoks and one of the drakpo shalzes. Nothing like instant "permanent" tormas for us lazy americans!
