Namdroling Monastery has officially announced that His Holiness Penor Rinpoche's kudung will be on public display in the ground floor of Zandogpalri Temple at the monastery, beginning April 9, 2009, after the completion of thugdam, and ablution rituals.
However, monastery officials are suggesting that this date may change, and are advising visitors to remain flexible.
I would like to note, as an aside, that under ordinary circumstances, an Indian Protected Area Permit, or "PAP" is required for foreigners to visit. The public viewing of His Holiness Penor Rinpoche's kudung, and other ceremonies, are expected to attract thousands of people from all over the world. As in the case of His Holiness Kusum Lingpa's recent services in Tibet, we have seen where governments have been willing to temporarily relax such restrictions. I hope that will be the case in India.
