Adopt A Rescued Rabbit Month

The House Rabbit Society (HRS) has designated February 2008 as "Adopt A Rescued Rabbit Month." To find out more about adopting a rabbit, contact your local shelter or your your nearest HRS chapter. For more information on House Rabbit Society's rescue and education work in your area, please call House Rabbit Society at (510) 970-7575. Pictured above is "Bamboo Rabbit," a young Belgian under the protection of Tenpa Rinpoche's daughter and friends. Rinpoche was always extremely fond of rabbits, and kept them off and on for over 50 years. One of the funniest and bittersweet things anybody ever heard was Tenpa Rinpoche attempting to explain the "Easter Bunny" to Ogyen Rinpoche. "They're like us," he said. "Everybody wants one for a little while, but later, when they find out they actually have to care for them, they let them go to wander around alone." Rinpoche often spoke about how much he would've liked to build a rabbit sanctuary.
